Sad Poem
- In response to mass shooting in Lewiston,Maine (10/2023)
In the realm of sorrow, I shall embark,
To weave a tale of darkness and despair,
A tragic epic, where the shadows hark,
To the piercing cries that fill the air.
A mass shooting, a scene of grim dismay,
Where innocence is shattered, lives undone,
The echoes of gunfire, a haunting fray,
As souls are lost beneath the setting sun.
In this epic, a world is torn asunder,
The pain and anguish, a relentless tide,
Families shattered, hearts now ripped asunder,
As tears cascade, and countless souls have died.
Oh, the sadness that pervades this tragic scene,
Like a leaden weight upon my weary heart,
The grief and anguish, overwhelming, keen,
A sorrow that tears this world apart.
Each victim, a story left untold,
Their dreams extinguished, like stars in the night,
Their voices silenced, their futures unfold,
In the darkest depths of eternal plight.
I paint the scene with words, a somber hue,
As sorrow dances with each line I write,
The anguish deepens, as emotions accrue,
In this epic of sorrow, the darkest night.
Metaphors, like broken shards, litter the ground,
Similes, like teardrops, fall with each word,
Alliteration, like gunfire, resounds,
Personification, as grief is stirred.
Through the depths of this dark and tragic tale,
I seek to evoke a sense of deep remorse,
To bring awareness, so that we may prevail,
And find a way to heal, to change our course.
For in the realm of sadness, we must strive,
To stand against the darkness that resides,
To foster love and compassion, to revive,
A world where peace and harmony abides.
So let this epic be a call to action,
To cherish life and strive for unity,
To end the pain and suffering, gain traction,
And build a world where sadness finds no glee.
In the realm of sorrow, my words are penned,
To honor those whose lives were senselessly lost,
May their spirits guide us, and in the end,
May sadness be replaced by love, at any cost.
